Submit Your Film – Mesingana Kvaka
Welcome to the Srebrenica’s Short Film Festival ‘Mesingana Kvaka’!
Mesingana Kvaka, or, The Brass Doorknob, symbolizes opening the door to new perspectives, visions, and stories – in other words, the door to cinema.
With this small festival, we are welcoming cinema into our town.
Srebrenica, a town that may seem a bit sleepy at times, is also a symbolic place. Once a small paradise full of culture, it has been fighting to regain its colourful past since the war.
The symbolism is clear: If Srebrenica can revive, so can any other place in the world! And what better way to revive than with a great film festival?
This is the very first edition of Mesingana Kvaka FF. It will be informal, cozy, and improvised in a Bosnian way. We aim to create an original, memorable festival that brings people together through cinema. Although we are a new festival with a limited budget, we won’t hold back on hospitality!
Srebrenica still lacks a cinema, so let’s bring cinema to Srebrenica. In return, we will show you our beautiful nature and ancient Guber springs. Send in your short films, and hopefully, we will invite you to our beautiful city in the hills.
Let’s make some noise, share some laughs, and prove that great cinema belongs everywhere—especially here.
This festival isn’t just about showcasing films; it’s about bringing people together, celebrating culture, and reminding everyone that Srebrenica is more than its history—it’s a place alive with art, resilience, and humour.
